For example: a UAL pilot that is furloughed could be 10 years senior to a CAL pilot that is not furloughed. The CAL pilot would not lose his job or be furloughed. He is protected. The #1 pilot gets whatever they want (within FAR rules etc), and those trips are taken out of the pool. 3. As each pilot bids, the pool of trips gets smaller. 4. When it gets to me, for example, I start with the pool of remaining trips. There may be a difference between DAL and UAL, but it ain't much. You're so young the seniority difference is negligible, and on retirements alone you'll make up that 6 month difference. Even if United grows a few thousand pilots it’s not close unless American shrunk their seniority list from 15,000. And yeah your counter is correct UAL has hired over 4,000 pilots since the beginning of 2022. 1st year FO in 1966 = $73k today. 5th year FO in 1966 = $121k today. Capt in 1966 = $238k today. + United "free" retirement plan paying $166k/year in today's gazinks. I think you may have misread the first year pay. It is not stated in the ad but I recall it was $500 mo. First year pay has always been low.
