Nah, if you kill him, and then talk to everyone I think that's when all the other stuff messes up. You'd still be able to fight the guy but no reward back at the manor. For the mountain top, you gotta be capital, for consecrated snowfield you have to find half of it in Liurnia, and the other half in the mountaintops. Good Luck!
Use the Rold elevatorEdit: I found the solution. Its at the same position as the rold lift that takes you to the mountaintop. Just switch message from "Hoist medallion" like the prompt says and you'll have an option to "Hoist secret medallion". Annoying but lets leave this thread for future scholars.
